Dark, talent (but not dark talent)

Today is dark/talent. Lest you misconstrue that, I do not have dark talents. Dark to me is something unwelcome. I don’t like dark colors very much, I don’t like dark thoughts, dark humor, dark entertainment or dark environments. Darkness is something not generally welcome in my life. And exercise has helped me more than anything lately to bring light and energy to my life. Class this morning was packed full. It felt good. As far as talents go, it is hard to toot your own horn. Daniel’s talent is people skills. He can get along with anyone. He works well with others and is good at people management a work. He is working on building a new talent, which I wholeheartedly support. He is getting into building things for our home and woodwork. I feel talents of creation are good for us. We can feel accomplished when we create and complete something. Sewing and the piano are two of my talents. Music is wonderful for the spirit and creating works of art, whether with paint or fabric, is fulfilling. The last picture is the “darkness” 😂 I expelled from our bedroom. The blue is much better.

Day 4

When I take my photos late at night, you get .... interesting... ones. Today is light and the view out our front door. Here is the view at 9:45 at night. Not very light. When we have a full moon you can see quite a lot. Over the holiday break we painted our master bedroom and upstairs hallway. The hallway and three of our walls were an orangey tan, and one master bedroom wall was, well, the color of poop. I have struggled with that wall since we moved in. So we went with our trusted favorite blue by Behr paint: morning breeze. It felt like we brought the outside in. It feels like a sunny day. But other things mean light to me too. For one, the Temple. I love the temple and the light I gain for my soul when I go. I saw this picture in Deseret Book the other day and snapped a photo. It is light. I also like light colored things. These sweet little shoes made me smile and think of my rainbowed childhood. I may or may not have purchased them for a little girl I hope will be in my future.

Sometimes you just need to spruce things up a bit

So we did. We went to Ikea on Friday night with friends and got ourselves some new cabinets. We've been contemplating this for a little while and finally did it. I'm so excited about the change.

I painted the room yellow - as it used to be a red sandstone color. Yellow matches my kitchen. It's such a happy yellow. Then we started putting cabinets in. Took us most of Saturday, along with a few other things. We just have to the knobs on, put the toe-kick up, and then decide how we want to put our stuff away. It's exciting!

We put the doors on, I just didn't take a picture after that. It makes the room so much more useful as a storage/pantry/laundry room.

Do you have dreams of a super organized house? I do! I'll get there someday.
